Raging skull related questions
Hello
Im currently having an totem – raging skull summoner, and I was wondering if the damage reduction( or increase from the nodes) have effect on the raging skull output damage. Also when using the 30% faster cast node for the totems, they don’t seem the be increase casting them any faster. I would expect to see a different in summed raging skull. Is this intentional or a bug? maybe more questions follow. Tnx in advance |

No, totem damage passives will have no effect, as summoning a skull does no damage. However, all relevant damage bonuses or penalties on your gem setup will carry over to the summoned minion, so using a totem to summon them will halve their damage.
That's 30% faster totem summoning, it affects your cast speed only when summoning a totem, not cast speed of the skill a totem uses. It's intentional, if you compare it with regular 'cast speed of totem skills' which is something like 4%, you can already assume 30% looks too good to be true. So Shamanistic Fury for example (16% increased Totem Damage) will be added to the summoning raging skull?

" Like I said, summoning a minion does no damage, totem damage passives work only if the spell that totem casts does damage directly. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I would think if the 50% damage reduction of the totem works on the skulls, the passive increases would count too. Thanks for the answers

" note that totem passive says: increased totem damage totem gem says: less damage this means that the passive is restricted to totem damage while the gem has no restriction, thus apply to any damage IGN: Eric_Lindros

It's a completely different thing, maybe not very intuitive but once you understand how minions work it will be clear enough.
- Minions have their own offensive and defensive stats, none of it comes from you. The only stats from your passive tree or gear that transfer to a minion are those clearly labelled 'for minions'. - Summoning a minion does no damage. If we, for instance, had a skill called 'space invader' that summons a meteor doing some fire damage and releasing an alien from the explosion, your bonuses to fire damage would work on explosion but wouldn't affect the alien, no matter the kind of damage it does. Totems use your offensive stats to cast spells so that rule goes for them too. - Bonuses on support gems do not apply to you, those affect skills directly, so they transfer to the minion. So, if you link a melee splash gem, a minion will spawn with 16% less Damage to main target 50% less Damage to other targets Single-Target Melee attacks deal Splash Damage to Surrounding Targets - Conversely, if you link a trap support gem with a minion, it will get '% more trap damage', the trouble is, no minion uses traps and summoning it does no damage so it's a wasted bonus. However, if you linked it with Space Invader, the trap damage bonus would work on meteor explosion as it's delivered via a trap so it does 'trap damage'. So, there are two reasons totem damage passives do not work 1. Those are bonuses to your damage that specifically apply when totem uses your stats for skills, they have nothing to do with summoned minions. 2. Even if the bonus transferred to minions, no minions will use totems so 'totem damage' bonus would do nothing. ... To GGG: Think about that 'space invader' skill, it might have some potential.
