Life Regeneration + Zealot's Oath Bug

Wanted to report what I think is a bug. I have a templar with Zealot's Oath (life regeneration is applied to energy shield instead of life). I finally got the life regeneration talent (1% of max life to energy regen). What happened was:

Before talent point:
5.0 passive ES regen
900 HP

After LR talent point:
6.7 passive ES regen

Which was no where close to the extra 9.0 regeneration I was expecting. This was a big bummer as I've been working on getting to the talent for quite some time. It is of course possible I missed something, but reading the skill descriptions, it seemed fairly reasonable to expect an extra 9.0 LR -> ES regen after taking the LR talent and having Zealot's Oath.

Your Life Regeneration is converted to ES Regen. 1% Life Regen becomes 1% ES Regen.
That doesn't seem logical though. Max life % still applies to life, not energy shield. What if I took life regen talent first, instead of Zealot's Oath? If my character sheet said 15 LR or something, would that then get changed into only 6 or 7 ES regen? Would it work then?
The order doesn't matter. 1% Life Regen will always be converted to 1% ES Regen, and ES Regen is naturally based on how much ES you have.
It makes sense if you consider that the passive was included as a kind of cover for the (justifiably needed) nerf to Chaos Innoculation.

CI makes your life 1, and thus if Zealots Oath was based off life then it would be totally useless to the CI user.
