Lag + disconnect 1/2 instance EU.

Hello there,

I've been experiencing huge lag spike+disconnect ingame these last days. It doesn't happen all the time, I mean it can be perfectly fine in an instance and as soon as I enter a new instance, it's hell on earth. It's also not permanent, I can play fine for hours and then the problem appears. When the problem appears my ping go from 40 to 300+, then the ingame graph stay stable at 300+ and then I get disconnected. I'm not playing wireless and I'm always running a ping to google.com to see if the problem is local or not.

Pingplotter to eu.login.pathofexile.com :

Sorry for my english, I'm not native :/

Please run a WinMTR trace that is capturing while you are playing and captures the disconnection/lag problem.

I don't see anything in your PingPlotter to show any signs of problems, so either the PingPlotter wasn't running long enough (or at the time of the problem) or the intervals are so high that the stuff happened between them.
Hello sir, I will try WinMTR but I remember having issue with this software, so we'll see.
By the way, how is 45% Packet loss in the 16th hop not a problem ?

It's not real loss. That's how.

If the packet loss were REAL loss, then you'd be missing packets on every hop after that one. What you are seeing is the node fail to return a ping response. This is common due to data mitigation techniques. They occasionally drop ping packets on some nodes because pings are low priority traffic and often used in DDoS attacks. So if the node has other more important things to do, it drops the ping packet.

What you're seeing is 1 node not returning a ping.. but as you can see, your last node returned every ping it was given (which goes through that same node that drops ping)... but it wasn't dropped. Because the intended target wasn't that node.

Just because you see some packet loss on one node, doesn't mean that node is necessarily dropping all packets... in this case, it's not dropping any where it matters.
Same issues here.
Even in the fuckin' town. Can't open my chest and organize stuff. If I ctrl+click things on my inventar to move them in stash, then it takes about 5 seconds till the item moves from inevntory to stash.
Constant dissconects today for about 2 hours.
WinTMR doesnt run, so I cant post anything.

Sometimes after a restart I cant login. Sometimes the crash occurs during the loading screen.

Checked with other games, quakelive, etc. everything runs perfectly smooth.
The Pc and connection is fine. This is the issue on the other side.

Maybe thx to the league merge?

@Drakier
Ok, thank you for the clear explanation mate. I'm waiting for the new league actually so I wont be playing that much, maybe not at all. If I catch another derp moment while ingame I will definitely turn WinMTR on and I will update this post.

@Banev
I think you should start your own thread, that's how things work there, and that's for the best.

Make sure WinMTR is capturing BEFORE you experience the issue so that the issue can be properly captured. If you only start the trace AFTER the problem happens, it might not capture the full problem.

We generally recommend letting WinMTR run for a long duration because then it gives us a better idea of the overall health. The more data it captures, the more data points we get, and the more a "pattern" might emerge. Statistical analysis. Having only 3 data points for example doesn't give us a lot of variation that we can gather a pattern from. But having 300 points means we can see what's more "normal" (and by knowing normal, we can see abnormal).

Too much data in this case is better than not enough.
Hi,

Is your problem the same as we described in the topic:
http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/746257?

It's so great it's almost 1,5 months now and we've never been even answered.

Well done GGG!

That thread is about someone's local connection giving packet loss and very high pings.

I didn't see any reports from you, so who knows what your problem was.
Hey guys,
I'm not playing path of exile atm, waiting for Invasion, but I can tell you after hours of gaming on others games (mostly LoL) that my internet connection is perfectly fine to these games servers.
I don't know what to expect from the new leagues if the problem I encountered still occurs. Though, I'm quite confident that the problem was or is a routing issue from my ISP to POE's datacenters.
Anyway, I'll run WinRMT all the time as soon as the new league comes out (I can't wait btw, but who could ?), and if the problem still occurs, I think we might be able to sort it out together.
Cheers.
