Karui Maul + Orb of Chance = Marohi Erqi?

Am I right in thinking that this is possible? If so, is there a minimum item level for the maul?
I'm expecting it to be a gamble with very long odds, but that would make it much more likely than finding enough exalted orbs to buy one (I'm L80 and I have found 2). Orbs of chance are obtainable from vendors, so if it's possible to get a Marohi Erqi this way and the odds are only hundreds to one, I'll grind away at it. If the required ilevel is low enough I can buy white karui mauls from vendors too. |

yup its possible, an orb of chance can make a unqiue item, there isnt any minimum item level either for the maul, as long as its karui maul type its ok.

Yep, any Karui Maul you find can be chanced to a unique. The only time you have to worry about item level is uniques that can also drop at lower level areas and you want 4+ sockets. If you want a quill rain for example with 6 sockets, you have to have an item level of 50 i believe. 40 for 5 sockets and 28 for 4 sockets if I am not mistaken.
All Karui Mauls are at least item level 57 so you don't have to worry about that one. |

Thanks for the answers. I've tried 38 times so far. Almost all blues and a yellow or two, as I expected. I've got ~200 spare orbs of fusing I could vendor for orbs of chance, so the limiting factor at the moment is the number of white karui mauls (I'm not going to use orbs of scouring as well unless I happen to find a white 6L karui maul).
I'm thinking that if I farm ~300,000 alt shards I'll probably have a fairly decent chance of gambling a 6L Marohi Erqi. It gives me a goal in PoE :) |

Player trading is so badly implemented in PoE that I almost completely ignore it. It might be quicker (and would certainly be less annoying) to farm 4 times as many alt shards than to sell hundreds of orbs of fusing on trade chat.
