Rogue exile request.
I would like to request that rogue exiles be added to the standard base game once the anarchy and onslaught leagues end.
On the league information page, it states that "[l]eagues are able to apply a different set of game rules to their players." If you look at the examples offered (increased monster difficulty, world PvP, permadeath, unable to trade with vendors, unable to refill flasks in town), it becomes clear what differentiates these leagues is that they are completely new rule sets designed to limit the player's strength. Rogue exiles don't really fit as a rule set in this vein. Instead, they're a game enhancement: an additional, random, exciting! enemy that will occasionally find you and show you exactly how dangerous Wraeclast is. The danger that they pose, though, isn't necessarily to the character's life. Even though they use player abilities, and thus are "stronger" than other enemies, they aren't mechanically any different than the monsters that roam Wraeclast. No, their danger is in their existence. "Death isn't the most fearsome threat on this island," they say. "Stay here too long, and you too will lose yourself to the corruption of the land." The addition of the rogue exiles is more accurately described as an environmental addition instead of a rule change. They're fun, they offer variety, and, most importantly to me, they provide atmosphere. So why should they be restricted to a four-month league? When we players migrate back to standard at the end of the new leagues, the rogues should as well. Side note: if you couldn't tell, I absolutely love the rogue exiles. Please don't take my loves away from me. I want to enjoy them forever. |

" they are exactly this: an addition that creates a different game experience. They are designed to reward you (with kill counts and special droptables) for participating in a different challenge/league than standard. Why should this be changed, why should you be rewarded for not trying the new challenges? invited by timer @ 10.12.2011
