Dominating blow, melee splash and minion instability

Can anyone tell me how these interact? I think that dominating blow and melee splash applies the dominating blow effect to all enemies hit, but when they rise as minions, how does the "Less Damage" affect the minion instability explosions? It looks like it should reduce the damage by either 16% or 50%, but I'm not sure. Logically the damage shouldn't be reduced at all (since MI isn't melee) but the wording makes me ask.

Maybe melee splash affect both your dominating blow and converted minions, granting minions melee splash. If so i tihnk minion instability is also affected by the damage reduction from melee splash.

MI isn't a single target melee attack. It should be unaffected.

Interesting question. I'm gonna assume that because MI explosions aren't a melee attack, they aren't effected.

Here's the gem. Not sure how "main target" applies to an inherently AoE skill.

Well your minions will have splash on their melee attacks but I doubt MI's explosion is in any way effected due to it being a spell. It's like if you have the splash gem on cleave or leap slam, it just doesn't do anything.

That's because those skills are already AoE. Minions aren't - they just coincidentally happen to have Minion Instability, which is AoE, and so I'm wondering how the gem affects it, since the melee splash gem definitely applies to minions.

The explosion from Minion Instability is neither single-target or an attack. Minions are not a single target melee attack, although Skeletons and Zombies use one. The debuff from the gem to them exploding shouldn't apply to them, any more than it would apply to you using discharge.
