Installation process..
PoE has one of the worst I have ever encountered.
I can download the game at up to 10MB/S but the download stops every 5 minutes with an error regarding PackCheck. I have literally had to use PackCheck at least 15 times during this installation process, which takes upwards of 15 minutes itself, causing what should have been a 15 minute (6GB) download into almost 3 hours of complete and utter non sense and frustration. New players are not going to put up with this garbage, I suggest someone does something to fix it because even if I for some reason have to re-install PoE again - I am just quitting the game entirely and saving myself the headache. I now have only 375.6KB of download left, but it won't even start to download - instantly gives that stupid error about CrashUpload or PackCheck and Packcheck says it fixes the sync issue but still won't download that last 375.6KB of file left.
Error: Failed writing received data to disk/application while downloading http://patch118.patchofexile.com8095/patch/0.10.8.5/crashupload.exe This seriously blows, I guess I'm quitting... because this process should not be this hard. |

One option is to delete the CrashUpload.exe in the Path of Exile folder since it seems to have problems downloading it. Could be due to overwrite problems, or could be due to wrong file path, etc.
The other option is to manually download the CrashUpload.exe from this link (the patching link you almost posted correctly) and save it over top of the one in the Path of Exile folder. That should get you past patching it. You can use links like that for any of the files outside of the Content.ggpk file. Anything that needs to be stored inside the Content.ggpk file however will still need to be downloaded through the patcher only. Good luck, and don't quit the game because you run into problems. Ask here for support and someone will attempt to get you squared away and working. Edit: If you get the same type of error for PackCheck.exe, you can download it from this link. None of that worked, packcheck from that link does the same thing as the one in the downloader - nothing.
Also, if I can't play - the only other option is to quit... lol |

If you right-click the link I posted and say "Save Link As.." it doesn't pop up with a "Save File" dialog box and ask you where you want to store it? What if you try a different patching server like this link. Any difference?
Edit: Also. do you have any Anti-Virus software or Firewalls running that might be interfering with the .exe downloads? Some AV/Firewall software will block downloading .exe's by default since they could be malicious in the AV/Firewall's eyes. Dernière édition par Drakier#1520, le 1 juin 2013 à 10:43:01

Nothing, keeps showing the exact same error whether I allocate the PackCheck file myself or allow it to simply download from browser and execute it that way.
I appreciate your help Drakier, but this seems to need a GGG mod to weigh in because it's ridiculous. lol |

At this point, I'm not even sure which error you're getting or why you're running PackCheck over and over again.
Can you please post the exact error message you are currently getting when you try to launch Path of Exile? Using that information, we might be able to get you moving along better. Edit: The first post just said "An error regarding PackCheck". That's not detailed enough. You need to provide exact error messages. In many dialogs, it's as easy as pressing CTRL+C to copy the error message (while the dialog has focus), then you can paste the results in here. I say "many" because that isn't the case for all dialogs. Dernière édition par Drakier#1520, le 1 juin 2013 à 11:58:16

Contact support via e-mail and ask them to look into.
that's the fastest and perhaps best way to get answers to your issue. Best of luck |

And I gave you a link to download the CrashUpload.exe manually (although the URL you entered was incorrect). What happens when you manually right-click on my link and click "Save File As" and save it over top of the current CrashUpload.exe in the Path of Exile folder? It shouldn't attempt to download it again.
So my question is... which part of my instructions above are failing, and what (if any) errors are produced then? |
