Bow bossing feels horrible when you don’t go freeze

I love archers. I have played almost exclusively the ranger in my 300 hours of PoE2, amazon was my first and favourite D2 class, etc etc. So many cool ways to clear mob packs!

My problem is how bow skills are designed for bossing.

Anyone who has used a poison bow build or a lightning bow build will agree toxic growth, lightning rods and eventually tornado shot are -the- staples for bossing.

here’s my problem :
- when bosses are static or have a huge hitbox, the fight lasts about 5 seconds. you stack your stuff, shoot at it, kaboom.
- when bosses are mobile, the fight lasts forever and does not feel good because by the time you’re done planting your rods/growth/tornados, the boss is already dashing or jumping somewhere else, or you can’t shoot your stuff because you have to evade a slam or whatever, and -then- the boss moves before you have time to recover and shoot. Plant again, shoot one arrow maybe, the boss moves, plant again, the boss moves. What an atrocious gameplay.
- another thing: boss ranged attacks are so much more dangerous than their melee attacks that efficient bow bossing usually involves rolling around the boss’ feet; that’s also, incidently, the best strategy to make bosses stay where they are and not move outside of your ground skills. Way to feel like an archer! I’m now a melee trapper, yay!

Why can’t we have more bossing bow skills that don’t involve setting up ground skills? Rapid salvos that stun? Guided arrows? Snipe is very cool but good luck using that without a freezing setup on some bosses.

PoE2 is making me hate my favourite archetype by transforming it into a trapper hybrid. Traps are my least favourite skills in ARPGs by a mile. They are the opposite of agility and dynamic fighting. Why GGG? Why?

Bow player for two leagues, suggestion for mobile bosses.

Staff in weapon set 2, hand of chayula with temp chain and freezing mark if you ice shot or voltaic if LA.

With proper support gems/magnitude of slow on tree/maim/hindered you can get a lots of slow

Was even using it on mobs in campaign and early endgame. Ancestrally boosted and support that makes curse spread on mob death.

Ah, yes, use a staff. The best way to feel like an archer again.

I know you’re trying to help and I thank you, but my point is about using a bow. I can also play any build that one shots bosses but that’s not really what’s at stake.
why not have a charge up bow skill where you hold attack down while
moving around, evading attacks then release a big fat whammo on
the boss.

if you cant just open fire then there should be skills that let
you charge up while waiting for the boss to settle down in one area
and with good timing you could land a big hit inbetween all the dancing
around dodging stuff.

what you describe op sounds painful. hope options are created for you.

Thanks :(

We have a skill that does what you say minus the movement. It’s Snipe. It’s very cool to use, you literally charge up to shoot a curtain rod at the boss, but you have to be immobile the whole time, so for all intents and purposse it’s a "reward" for stunning or freezing a boss.
