Support gems total confusion and skill gem system

So there is no reliable way of knowing which support gems work with which skills after 1 year of early access.

There is a small indicator that doesnt do much for us.

1. Why are skill gems items? Thats a design flaw. Why are they not immaterial for improved QoL and why do we have the option to trade skill gems?

2. It is not clear in any constructive way which support gems work with skill gems. How about when we click a support gem and click the skill it opens _ALL THE SUPPORT GEM OPTIONS >>>>>>>> FOR THAT SKILL <<<<<<<<<. Its a complete mess and has been since launch. This would make it infinite times easier to understand which supports will work.

There should be "available support gems" option instead of "recommended support gems" for each skill imo.

Crazy that this is not in the game yet as it makes it a complete guessing game for noobs like me.
