Forced Auto-Aim Interrupts Reload, Ignores Cursor, and Does Nothing
|
I believe I have identified the root cause of a recurring and extremely frustrating Crossbow issue in Path of Exile 2: forced auto-aim interacting incorrectly with the reload/charge state.
This is not just a targeting problem. Auto-aim is interrupting a stateful action mid-execution, without committing to any result, which causes loss of player control and unreliable input execution. What happens: 1) I start reloading/charging a Crossbow shot while aiming at a specific target under my cursor. 2) During the reload/charge phase, forced auto-aim re-evaluates targets and switches to a different one, ignoring cursor priority. 3) The auto-aim may switch to a nearby target; this is not always visually noticeable, but the reload/charge is still interrupted as if the character had rotated to it. 4) The reload/charge is canceled. 5) No shot is fired and the character remains idle. At this point, the player loses control and the intended action is neither completed nor replaced. Additional issue (input delay): After this interruption, pressing the skill button multiple times does not execute the action immediately. Inputs appear to be buffered, causing shots to fire later, sometimes after the target is already dead or when the required timing window has already passed. Why this is a serious gameplay issue: 1) Auto-aim overrides player intent mid-action. 2) Critical actions are canceled without firing or completing reload. 3) Cursor target priority is ignored, making it impossible to consistently focus rares, bosses, or high-threat enemies. 4) This behavior can directly lead to deaths due to interrupted or delayed input execution, not player error. Expected behavior: 1) Cursor target must have priority during reload/charge. 2) Auto-aim should not interrupt stateful actions. 3) If an interruption occurs, the system must commit (fire) instead of canceling. And if this behavior cannot be reliably fixed, giving players the option to disable auto-aim entirely would be a reasonable and much safer solution. Dernier bump le 27 janv. 2026 à 15:51:33

Also auto-aim generally sucks on most builds |
