[Suggestion] An idea to no longer rely on map item
|
In current game, players are often voicing that they cannot "sustain" waystone.
From a design perspective, having tier for waystone would indicate the difficulty of the content, but when player take it for granted (and demand) that they can always run the most difficult and most rewarding content, I don't think the Tier system serve much of a purpose other than a medium to add extra "heat" to map (Hades, yes). Since the tablet system first introduced, a thought has come to my mind but never quite find the chance to send it here. What if: We let player select the Tier of the map they want to play and have a dedicated tablet that player can roll modifier on and socket it in the place of the map to add modifiers to the area? The current tablet has already worked that way, except the mods are often beneficial and content-specific. This new tablet would roll the current map mod pool. The unlock would work the same way as current. Instead of dropping map item, bosses would sometimes drop unlockable consumable to unlock the next tier of map. Pros: - Player no longer complain about map sustainability or map-related stash organization. - The multiple use of tablet entice player to craft their map carefully instead of current Alch-and-go, urging people to play builds that can handle all modifiers for a smoother experience and never look at what the map do. This will help with HC experience since player there are required to be careful with their rolls, which previously was relief by mass-crafting and chest filter, but no longer viable in current map drop rate. - Map stash can be repurposed to store tablet, solving the organization issue. - Simplify the map drop rate balancing. Since player will never be locked out of highest tier map if they ever run out of tablets, they can run "blank" map to find more juicing tablet. - I can't say for other people but I myself used to run blank maps on highest tier to farm xp and find point of interests (to be safe and fast), current map sustainability no longer allow that luxury. This approach would re-enable that without delicate drop rate balancing, where on one hand you have complaining player (sustainability), and on other hand... is also complaining players (when map stash run out of room). Cons: - Doryani loses his job as map merchant, return an empty quick access shortcut for passive refund functionality. (Alt + Click) Dernier bump le 27 janv. 2026 à 01:41:02
