Fire and lightning remnants are fun, cold remnants are clunky and slow
|
We need a way to convert remnants like attack classes can convert power / energy charges, firstly.
Secondly, lightning and fire remnants just appear as a byproduct of the spells you use anyway, in the process of using them, but frost remnants are not so lucky. With the new sorcerer ascendancy, your primary attack consumes all frost on the ground. The catch is, you have to wait for frost orb to expire to get a cold remnant, and the only other way to reliably get cold remnants is to cast a spell on a target that is already frozen. How's it going to get frozen if it's a white mob or blue mob? Those get oneshot while clearing at high levels, so they don't drop remnants randomly like the targets of fire and lightning spells do. Frost orb is also applying a resistance debuff to the target which is fine, but the remnant that it leaves behind is at the center of the spell's location. So lets say I'm clearing an abyss, and want to hit the most amount of mobs possible with a frost orb. I have to not kill them and wait for the orb to expire, and then run into the pack of them to pick up the remnant? The above implies that I must have blasphemy with temporal chains, or I will get beaten to death by the mobs in question when I'm trying to get the remnant. Or, it implies that I am not using frost orb for exposure, but rather just casting it at my feet and waiting on it to blow up and do nothing so that I get the remnant from it. The only other way to get remnants would be to use frost bolt with snap, but that would leave you casting a low damage spell you don't even want to use at all (the point of the ascendancy is to cast command skills at chilled ground), just to get remnants to use your main skill. Using the main command skill without remnants is not viable, it does little / no damage and has a minimal area of effect unless it's infused. All of this is very clunky in practice. For an ascendancy with a 3 second cooldown on its main attack, it should have a reliable way to get remnants from clearing, like fire and lightning do, without having to jump through hoops just to use the main attack of the ascendancy. " There is a keystone in the top left corner of the skill tree that converts remnants to different remnants similar to the Resonance keystone for charges. |

Navira's Fracturing -> Bidding III/Frost Nexus/Encroaching Ground/Tul's Stillness/Rakiata's (if can't afford the last two, replace them with damage supports like pinpoint critical and concentrated area)
Frost Bomb -> Cooldown Recovery II/Short Fuse II/Spell Cascade/Overabundance I/Harmonic Remnants II Ice Nova -> Expand/Rapid Casting II/Encroaching Ground/Astral Projection/Mobility (last one is optional, i just don't like being slowed) Make sure to get 'Growing Swarm' on your passive tree and the two "command skill cooldown" passives This gets me down to 2.08 seconds on fracture And I only cast frost bomb on occasion because the supports in fracture skill allow chilled group to spread for 2 seconds when you freeze an enemy FYI - enemies freeze before they die so if you kill them with your explosion, you still get chilled ground and it keeps spreading so you can keep popping every 2 seconds but yes, you kill slow (once every two seconds at best) & can't play with friends that are stronger than you because then you don't freeze enough enemies to create chilled ground (so you just can't fracture lol) Dernière édition par tdonov5#2743, le 26 janv. 2026 à 05:39:31

" That is not the case for me. My explosion fills / wipes the screen. My tooltip damage is about 175k on Navira's Fracturing so non-rare mobs get oneshot, and they do not leave behind cold remnants. If I freeze a rare mob and then kill it after the initial burst, it does leave one behind. Muster - Bidding II - Cold Penetration - Cold Mastery is what I'm running on it. I do not have any of the 100+ div support gems. I do have Leopold's gloves. " Thanks, perhaps lightning warp is viable, will give it a shot. edit: using lightning warp isn't as bad, you can at least reliably get infusions since you can cast it at orbs, too. Still, converting another damage type's infusions to your damage type and casting a level 9 skill to get them feels awfully bad. Dernière édition par xayd#4454, le 26 janv. 2026 à 22:03:21

" Frost Nexus/Encroaching Ground these are what make it work -- on fracture you don't need cold remnants here, they chill expands forever so long as there are mobs and you pop when its on cooldown Dernière édition par tdonov5#2743, le 27 janv. 2026 à 11:27:11
