Mind over Matter and Chaos Innoculation not working

I'm dying constantly with full mana. Mind over Matter doesn't seem to work at all.

Also - I'm dying pretty regularly in Abyss events when the dudes on horseback spawn and they shoot the big chaos/poison blast. Chaos inoculation useless.
