Enough Is Enough with the Maggot Lair Design

With every patch and addition, more and more maps are starting to feel like the Maggot Lair from Diablo II. And that’s not a compliment.
If the entire Diablo experience had taken place only in the Maggot Lair, the game would have been a flop. Variety mattered. Space mattered. No one buys a 10,000-square-foot mansion and says, “You know what this needs? Three hundred non-symmetrical hallways, five hundred unusable closets, and two hundred tiny bedrooms.” That’s what the current map design is starting to feel like. There needs to be far more open space and readable layouts. Right now it feels like clutter stacked on top of clutter. Every patch makes the maps tighter, messier, and more fragmented, like someone grabbed a crayon and kept subdividing the same space into smaller and smaller rooms with more and more hallways.
