The temple is a reminder of how bad maps are
|
With everyone basically having whatever amount of free exp in the temple, going into maps to get the 6 crystals is a reminder 3x per temple run of how bad maps are, and how much they were made worse in the last changes before 0.3.
1) "All mods are negative" was a bad change, it's too much of a hassle to avoid particular map mods that are particularly difficult for a particular build, scarabs were better. 2) "All maps have a boss and that's the only way to complete it" was a bad change, there are LOTS of builds in this game that are poor boss killers, the players of whom would happily just kill 6 rare mobs and go about their business. 3) "All maps have a boss" is also a reminder of how poor boss design is in this game. They all have a one shot mechanic, that once memorized trivializes them. 4) "Bosses have an immunity timer" holy sh*t what a lazy design band-aid. All that did was make them more annoying. If you don't like 150% speed ranged builds one-shotting bosses, how about not giving builds 150% speed and triple-synergy skills that can be further enhanced by a white item that drops with multiple projectiles on it? And no, nerfing Gemini bows didn't fix that either. There's still a multiple arrow rune, after all, and it's cheaper now than it was a league ago. Protip, since you all don't understand your own game that well it seems... bow users gave up on Gemini bows in the last league, in favor of Obliterator and Warmonger bows with additional projectile runes (you know, the ones you left in there and made more common). The fact that you put in a nerf to a bow no one was still using is illustrative of the cluelessness of the people in charge of the design of this game. This game's problem isn't that it needs more end game content, it's that it needs better direction and management to stop bad decisions and bad design choices from ruining its endgame in the first place. " a) I have 4 chars at endgame, not my problem b) also, game design? also not my problem " nor me, reading comprehension isn't your friend. Dernière édition par xayd#4454, le 24 janv. 2026 à 00:26:53

i think GGG likes that we have full map of attempted maps in order to do temple

" I think having your core game mechanic bypassed and hated by all the players is an indication of poor design. | |

I partially agree. I play regular maps tho. I run expedition and abyss tablets and farm logbook and abyssal currency.
Personally I despise the temple. having to run the same layout, monster types, etc. ruins it for me. So boring. I do agree somewhat with the boss design. Invulnerabilties and one-shots are a declaration of bankruptcy when it comes to game design. However, I do not think that this is limited to boss design. The problems with this game's design go so much deeper. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy it, but it undenyable that it is fundamentally flawed. Imho the core problem starts with rng on top of rng on top of rng. This makes it so that essentially the only metric that is relevant in this game is clear speed. So it don't matter if it's dualstring, obliterator, warmonger, the rune or 150% speed. The only playstyle that will ever shine in this game is aoe clear and speed. TL;DR: Mapping isn't bad, temple just gave players an unreasonable expectation that is absolutely not going to be met next league.
" PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |
