Serious Accessibility Concern: Unbearable Screen Effects Causing Eye Strain
|
Hey Devs and Community,
I need to address a major accessibility issue that's making the game unplayable for me and likely many others. The visual effects in PoE2, particularly the screen flashes and particle effects, are so intense that they're causing actual physical discomfort. The Problem: After playing for just a few hours, I've experienced significant eye strain, headaches, and what feels like worsening vision (I'm developing more sensitivity to light). The constant flashing, bright explosions, and overwhelming particle effects don't just obscure gameplay - they're physically painful to watch. My Concern: This isn't just about preference - it's about accessibility. As someone who already wears glasses, I'm genuinely worried these effects could contribute to long-term vision issues like increased nearsightedness or astigmatism. The current intensity level feels medically irresponsible. What We Need: Effect Intensity Slider: A simple slider to reduce or completely disable excessive screen flashes and particle effects Accessibility Presets: Options like "Reduced Effects," "Minimal Flashing," or "Epilepsy-Safe Mode" Separate Toggles: Ability to disable specific problematic effects while keeping others Colorblind/High Contrast Modes: Alternative visual schemes that reduce strain Why This Matters: Health & Safety: Players shouldn't risk their vision to enjoy your game Inclusivity: Many players have light sensitivity, migraines, or visual impairments Gameplay Clarity: Excessive effects often obscure important mechanics and telegraphs Player Retention: I want to keep playing, but currently can't without discomfort To the Devs: Do you actually playtest your own game for extended periods? Have you considered how these effects feel after 3-4 hours of continuous play? The current state feels like it was designed for 30-second trailers, not actual gameplay sessions. Community: If you're experiencing similar issues, please comment below. The more visibility this gets, the more likely we'll see changes. I love PoE2's gameplay, but I literally can't play it in its current state. Please prioritize accessibility options so everyone can enjoy your amazing game without risking their vision. I remember saying to my friend how much my eyes were hurting after I first got this game. Maybe it's just the timing but my eyes have been getting worse lately and it's a real problem. I have a very hard time but I still try to play even trying to avert my eyes and not look directly at the screen, and I have to take breaks very often which I've never had to do for any games before this. I agree. The game's visual effects are problematic and affect my vision. My vision has deteriorated significantly, and my astigmatism has worsened. It's unfortunate.
Developers, please address this issue. |

" +1 Look at the complaints from the community, how many people have the same complaints season after season and GGG just leaves them unaddressed, this has been a major issue since day one, Still not getting better I am 1000% the people creating this game, do not even try to play it, or test it in any way the average player would aka running through campaign sections, then looking at their endgame mapping system, whole thing falls apart in endgame, conventional builds and the combo skills their desgining are unusable, split seconds to react or die during boss fights, 10/10 design Dernière édition par Jobama#9902, le 23 janv. 2026 à 17:13:42

This is a must. Adaptive framerates and lots of spark on screen can cause screen flickering. This strain damages the eye on the long run and it's a serious health concern. I am amazed, because GGG did not do something for people with this conditions. Sad, this is like, first grade game development. Well, i take a lot of brakes. I use locked sync. |
