Wisps are still bad
|
Hello!
Lets start with a fact. When asking players what quest types in MMOs are the most annoying the answer is still the same as 20 years ago: escort quests. ESCORT!!!! god the hate i feel when i see those stupid wisps, the flashbacks i get of running after slow-witted npcs at walking speed. And you had to add this to your game? Did nobody actually ever play an escort quest before? The problem with wisps is easy to understand: The choose some random rare and fly to them, if you're near. This means you need to stay near and follow an annoying npc which you neither control nor understand the pathing. Its also slow as hell. As soon as you stack a little bit of movement speed you will sprint away from it, leaving it behind. yay go back to pick up your sidekick.... And the best feature is when it decides on a rare somewhere in the map where almost everything is already cleared. so enjoy running after the ghost for 2 minutes to fight a 1% enhanced rare. This is not even talking about rewards or loot mind you. Basically current strategy for maximizing loot is to ignore those little buggers. Any time you spend running after them is better spend killing mobs in the next map. Possible Improvements: Let the wisp possess the player, without the buff stats ofc. The player then buffs enemies s/he fights for a specific duration or number and the buffs get stronger before the player triggers a release where the spirit will then possess the strongest enemy in range and increase its loot based on killed monsters during the charge phase up to a maximum. This would remove the most annoying part of escorting while also providing player agency. Current Build: Penance Brand God build?! https://pobb.in/bO32dZtLjji5 Dernier bump le 7 janv. 2026 à 19:32:56

There is exactly one time you will see a wisp move fast... when you are trying to bring a rare that is right by the wisp to it but it wants to go to a rare on the other side of the map for some reason. Why do they not ALWAYS choose the closest rare to hit?

I'm certain they will eventually fix this, because the potential of it is interesting.. In its current state. Its really counterintuitive to efficient mapping.
