Sorcerer has Staff but casts using hand zzz

Its disappointing having no change in animations for spells cast with a Staff. The only ones with staff animations are the spells included with the staff and even then its only for SOME spells.
The whole point of a mage having a staff is to use it to concentrate their magic. Its not just a walking stick. Lots of other games incorporate using the staff in their spellcasting: Elden Ring, my fave Dragon Age: Inquisition, Heck even Diablo has Staff animations for spells. Gandalf even uses his staff for magic on the rare occasions he's not using it to beat some orcs. Also want to bump again how disappointing the spell cast animations are with simple flicks of wrist. I get its for gameplay convenience but it becomes noticeable and dulls the experience. Atleast mix it up and make each spell have its own distinct movement or choreography or something. Lots of great examples like those above or in other games. Make it feel like real magic where casting spells are like art or calligraphy. A game with repeatable, seemingly endless gameplay like this shouldn't have dull animations if you expect to people to play it over and over again and not get bored looking at it. It breaks the Mage/Wizard/Spellcaster/etc. fantasy immersion. Dernier bump le 8 janv. 2026 à 11:42:15

I agree its a bid odd. Its work for fast skills like spark it makes kinda sense that the staff has power inside it and gives the one wielding it powers. But looks kind of weird imo it would make more sense to have the big attacks like arc shoot from the staff.

Good Point I want

It's irrelevant to the gameplay so it should have a very low priority.

I get what you mean and i would even go beyond that and say caster classes shouldn't wear "physical weapons" like staffs or anything like that at all but more so gauntlet-like-gloves that concentrate said magic. Also we need more arcane-like magic.

I personally think it's much cooler for a mage to be able to cast spells without relying on a staff, just with their hands. That's one of my problems with fireball, for example... creating a fireball in my hands is much cooler than releasing it from the staff.

" Then don't use the staff. Find a way to make a build without the staff or I always wanted a "Hollow Palm" but for Spellcasters. But don't pile against those who find no sense in having a magic staff and not using it. Again, its not just a walking stick. |

" Calm down, buddy, where did I criticize you? I just stated my personal preference lol There were people who responded to your post much more aggressively ^^ |

" You still need a staff for +levels tho |

The animations appear to be consistent with weapon requirements which for spells are usually none. Maybe a sorceress could channel an ice nova or spark through the staff same way as you could eat a taco with knife and fork but it could be more inconvenient.
Staff is used when casting spell that is built in the staff. Practically speaking, if a skill has no weapon requirement as a developer you probably want its animations to work with all types of equipment with reasonable amount of investment even besides the consistency. |
