Trial of Sekhema reset to first stage after activating second stone and leaving to move to 3rd act.

Title. Finished Sekhema of 22 lvl, collected the stone for 28 lvl challenge, activated it and leave the location without entering trial. After that decided to finish 2nd Act, and after start of 3rd Act returned to trial to find out, that it degradeted to 22 lvl challenge (instead of 28 lvl i've activated). Finished it again and location require challenge gem, which i don't have, because i've already used it to activate 2nd stage of challenge.

The trial's starting location is always level 22 (since it's located in Act 2). The trial's level depends on the barya's level.
What do you mean by "2nd stage of challenge"? Barya can drop anywhere. For the 2nd ascendancy you need a barya level 45+ with 2 floors (or quest Chimeral Inscribed Ultimatum for Trial of Chaos). |

What i mean that i've finished Sekhema of 22 lvl, then activated lvl 28 with gem that i have got near the end of second Act. But after i've started the 3rd Act - trial was reset to 22 lvl, as if i've never activated 28 lvl gem.
