Ritual Loot Filter - Fair or ILLEGAL?

Right now players kinda separated into two groups, one can use loot filter in Ritual , one can't.. Since it's achievable only on PC client with modification of game setting file (technically just changing one string).
I wonder how fair it is and official GGG stand on this topic? i would like to turn it on, since it's nice QoL + i made really good identified filter, but i guess it's against TOS ?

It seems pretty cut and dry. Since prior written approval by GGG hasn't been given, anyone doing this is violating the ToS and should be punished accordingly. Though it's likely they are streamers doing this and they never face consequences.
Considering its an ingame feature in poe 1 i think it would be harsh to ban for this as it just seems like something they didnt get round too yet.

Personally ill wait, ive played this game so much my eyes are the filter
it must be fair.
it is just settings change. you can change your settings.
thanks to you, i will start using it (even i dnt do rituals)

Check out poe2 nexus mods:) Also some larger mods are self-hosted. Not to mention "secret" mods/cheats not published for general access.

Honestly, I also interpret it that way. But it blows my mind that Neversink then just publicly uses it and announces it to his huge user base? Not sure what the punishment is, but doesn't he risk getting banned for life?

So what does this do? It filters out the gear in the ritual altar "store" so you don't have to read it?

Correct. Which is super useful along with a filter which parses identified items for good mods, like https://poe2filter.com/tier-list/mods.
