[Visual Clarity] Add the option to visually disable or simplify friendly effects
|
I stopped taking meteor shrines, because the visual clutter is not worth it. Especially bad for bosses with one shot mechanics. Eg pinnacle jamanra can one shot you if you don't see where he's aiming.
I also stopped casting temp chain as an aura that stays on the ground, because once again it makes it hard to see other effects. What is especially problematic is when the map has your curse and you can't tell if the purple thing is for the enemy or for you. I'm pretty sure there are dozens of other examples, but the point is, friendly effects should not make it hard to see what the boss is doing and should not hide hostile effects. I have no idea how these effects are implemented within the engine, but if it's doable, then adding transparency to friendly aerial effects like meteors or comets should be awesome. Another solution would be to make every friendly ground effect a particular color that is not used anywhere else. I mean it's not like I don't know it's temp chain when I'm the one casting it. It doesn't need to be purple. I don't need the color to tell me what it is. What I need is to see if it's harmful or harmless for my character. Another big visual descriptor would be shape. Different effects could have different shapes, eg temp chain could be a circle, enfeeble a square, etc. But then this would change the gameplay somewhat, not sure if this is what we want. Especially with the crap map layouts having triangles could be frustrating. For now, I think the best would be if we could customize effect colors in the settings. The defaults could be what we have right now, but add options for changing a particular effect to a particular color. Every ground effect should have a different option for both friendly and hostile flavor. Dernier bump le 24 déc. 2025 à 17:10:25
