Auto-aim is sucking the fun out of the game for me

Auto-aim is sucking the fun out of the game for me. I wish abilities would go exactly where my mouse cursor is pointing, without exception. That is already how every ability behaves when there are no enemies on the screen, and it feels great.

Imagine the following situation: there are two enemies, and your ability’s AoE is large enough to hit both only if you place the center of the AoE between them. In the game’s current state, this is impossible to do.

Unearth makes this problem even more apparent: an AoE ability that will either auto-aim at a single corpse or enemy, and sometimes it even fires in the opposite direction from where my cursor is pointing. Am I even playing?

Please consider adding an option to disable auto-aim completely. Being in control is fun.

Edit:

Another great example of auto-aim being a problem:

Another annoying scenario is when a large enemy is coming at me, so I want to put a curse down a bit ahead of him where I know it will go off with him in the circle. Instead, the game targets the enemy and the curse centers on him, so he just keeps walking right out of the circle before the curse goes off.

This isn't routinely a problem for me in this game specifically, but it annoys the hell out of me in many games, and it should always be an option... Ideally a toggle on a per-skill basis.
I was frustrated with this trying to use Unearth, also. Sometimes I would want to hit an enemy, but it would target a corpse instead and miss my target entirely. It's a skill that wants to be able to do two things (kill and summon) but it prioritizes one.

I've had to learn a habit of placing my curse away from the enemy and then moving myself to lead the enemy into it.

A per-skill toggle would be a lot better than what I proposed.
I understand the "auto-aim" feature, and I would also like for it to be at least toggleable. Is it needed for optimization? Because if not, I am completely able to aim or miss-aim by myself.

Even in POE1 console I did not enjoy the auto-aim. But I also understood it's implementation since some skills needs a "stop trigger".

I'd rather use "Button Released" for "Stop Trigger" on slower builds, but for spam builds I guess auto-aim is fine.

In modern controllers developers can even use the Analog float values (0.0 to 1.0) to determine how the skill would behave. But that would require players to manage their own desirable threshold (0.0 to 0.2 is close range, 0.2 to 0.7 is mid range, 0.7 to 1 is infinite range) or something like that.

Same would work by using analog sticks, different behavior the further you push it.

Or press the same button twice, one for release skill and another to trigger it's end.

I mean, the Input Team could really win in accessibility AND fun by improving the Input Handling and giving players more control over the skill usage.

I'd suggest to add more ways to tweak different skills on their skill panel, where in addition to "use with weapon set" most skills would have additional toggles and settings. Like I want my Lightning Warp to have priority to activate on Ball lightning, then cullable monsters and do not activate on non-cullable monsters. Same for auto-aim, activation without moving, and all other possible settings. It should be there as an option.
