Devour caused death?

Can someone help explain what just happened?

I am running Berserk, but I have Life Regen
I have Soul Tether belt with:
1. Excess Life recovery from Leech is applied to Energy Shield
2. Life Regeneration is Applied to Energy Shield instead

Running Shaman with Furious Wellspring
Halfway through the Map, I devour a corpse and I just die

What?

EDIT: I think i figured it out, even though its not stated anywhere, Berserk Aura does reduce your life by ~0.1 (even though after CI its 1 HP)
Because you convert Life Regen to ES, you have no way to regen your life beyond 1
Thus if you stand still for 10 seconds you just die
