Melee shouldn't be entirely gear dependant

I play melee because I like playing close up, I like two handers and smacking enemies, It's not possible to tank, even with 4k hp, 90% armour, full resistances, I will still get 1 shot, I dodge, not gonna hit perfect timing every single time, no ones perfect...
Either hits need to be toned down, ES needs to be toned down, or HP + Armour needs to be buffed Melee classes need a way to scale HP like spellcaster can their ES ES nodes are far superior then life regen nodes and armour nodes, There are ways to regen ES, leech ES, make it so you never run out of that ES and your hp remains full the whole time This isn't possible with melee, you will always be taking damage unless you have ES, even with mass amounts of regen/leech, enemies will out dps it Yes you can leech hp, where the nodes are located, you either go all leech, or all regen, balance the both and it wont be enough Slow hitting classes will not be able to leech fast enough, or regen enough in the amount of time needed The only way to effectively tank and play melee requires a few specific uniques like Olroths flask, its legit broken... gives excess hp as guard? So if I use flask at 3999/4k hp, Say I have 100% increased flask recovery from passives, I can get upwards of 1800 guard... I've killed olroth 30 times and no flask... Or defiance of desitny, Recoup 20-30% hp BEFORE BEING HIT Playing Melee shouldn't be gear dependant... 90% armor vs white mobs. w/o modifiers. To calculate actual phys reduction, you better use calc/excel/pob2.
PS: i've been oneshotted all previous leagues playing armor+es or pure es. It's not an armor problem, the damage is extremely high. Top endgame defences on mirror gear will allow you to tank few hits, but it's for 1% players. The game suffers both from: 1. extremely high ceiling on item affixes; 2. and cheap sustain (leech/flask charges on kill) -> non oneshots cant kill players. |
