Mana Flare and interactions with other Support Gems

Hi.

I'm currently playing a plant-caster Oracle and wanted to make a fun build imitating those annoying volatile plants. It is not heavily optimized, but works well thus far.

I'm using Mana Flare with Entangle, and it triggers every second due to my Inevitable Crits (Oracle). I have also taken Blackflame Covenant to get chaos damage and better mimic the volatile plants mod.

Finally, I wanted to try the Poison II support with both Entangle and Mana Flare. It works just fine with Entangle, but it does not seem to work with Mana Flare, even though mine deals chaos damage, which should count for poison magnitude.

I have also tested this by slotting Mana Flare and Poison II into Thunderstorm (which by itself deals no physical/chaos damage and thus no poison), and there was never any poison debuff on the enemies.

Thus, I think there is a bug: Mana Flare (plus Blackflame Covenant) does not trigger Poison support gem.

Or does the triggered spell (Mana Flare) not profit from any of the other support gems in the same skill socket? I would have expected that other supports would work just as well, like more generic area or damage increases?

Hey, I am playing a Chayula Blackflame Covenant build and was planning on using Mana Flare as well, but it didn't work for me either.

But as far as I can tell from my testing, it is because Mana Flare does not get converted at all. Yeah, it is purple, but I think it's only visual. They just blanket changed all fire to purple, for example fire-infused Ball Lightning is also purple and that is certainly not a fire spell and should not be affected.

Anyways, the ignites Mana Flare inflicts are still normal and it also gets no damage boost from despair. I guess that Blackflame Covenant does not consider support gem triggered spells to be "real" spells. Burning Inscription is the same, also inflicts normal ignites.

I hope it is a bug and not intended :/
I have a specific Ember Fusilide build with Mana Flare, and yes, Mana Flare seems to work with Blackflame Covenant. I don’t know about the ignite because it’s not the focus of my build. Probably, poison only works if there is physical damage by default on the skill, unless the skill explicitly shows that it causes poison. Also, skills with fire infusion turning purple shouldn’t deal chaos damage (if they do). I tested Comet, for example, and it was purple—this is a bug that should be fixed because it should only work with fire skills and not with fire damage in general
I've been working with mana flare for about a week on one of my builds. I've got an oracle with blackflame covenant.

I can confirm that mana flare is not behaving correctly. With poison 3 and BFC mana flare will not poison. Additionally if you socket it into a persistent skill with one weapon set, it doesn't always work if you use a skill with the other weapon set. Personally tested with orb of storms and saw two other posts have this issue as well with other skills.

I've got my doubts as to whether it is even igniting anymore once you take BFC, but haven't done any direct in game testing.

Right now these issues are bricking my build idea. :(

I can 100% confirm that it still ignites, I was proccing it through uninfused Ball Lightning and it did. But the ignites have normal orange color and are not ticking faster with Despair, so I am pretty sure that at least those remain fire. I feel like the Flare itself also remains Fire, but I can't really prove it without a doubt. Would help a lot if it had it's own detail page...
