I want more support and skill gems to drop

I was having a rough time with the druid at the start of the season. I was frustrated that the druid felt so squishy if I took damage passives, and I didn't have enough gold to respect my whole tree to be defensive. I understood that I picked a build that didn't work out, or I couldn't figure it out; that's fine I just wanted to move on and go back to more of a pure spellcaster build to get through act 1, but I didn't have any extra gems.

I feel like PoE2 is telling me that I should experiment, but then doesn't give me the resources to do so. It seems like a far more valid plan to play with a character that I know will be easy (contagion witch, grenade merc, shock ranger), and then play through with other characters and use the extra resources from them to try things out. It seems like 20% of gems have 80% of the power in the game, and try to use the other 80% is an uphill battle. I wouldn't even mind the increased difficulty, but having to grind for the privilege to grind inefficiently idk if that's for me.

Maybe I'm not the audience for this game. Maybe I should just stick to standard and play the 3 classes that I know how to play. Diablo 2 skill has some winners and losers, but I feel like we can design more equal systems now. For the amount they nerf things, I don't understand why they can't raise the damage of certain skills until it is actually viable. I feel optimizing is needed to beat the game at a reasonable pace. Hell even if I was content with dying 10 times to a Act 1 boss, it's not like I can farm for 30 minutes and get 10 gems to try out a new build. I just get better at dodge rolling, or look up the one skill gem that actually works for a skill and then I breeze through.

Am I crazy yall? Do I not understand the genius of the design? Is this game just not for me? Am I farming wrong. Is it easy to just beat evey boss with your bare hands if you know what 3 support gems work perfectly with it?

Hi,

I read your title and one idea from each of your 3 paragraphs.

One thing for sure on my side, is the lack of support gems on my campaign playthroug to act 5. Skills gems are also missing, but less than support.

I am taking a lot of time planning and deciding which to choose, so I did not make too many bad choice. I ran out of ressources, especially when I bought greater jewel sockets orbs.

These supports are quite expensive to buy early on also...

I think it's ok to be "in need" for those ressources
When they drop it's a big win and satisfying.

I would prefer GGG to find a way to balance the game so players do not have to rush thru the campaign in order to benefit from the economy on the trade league.

A good wine is better taken slowly.

:)
