Item is bugged

Hello, I'm having a problem where a Quarterstaff I recently bought is saying in big bright red letter "YOU CANNOT USE THIS ITEM. ITS STATS WILL BE IGNORED". The problem is my character is a level 97 Monk Invoker, who meets all the stats criteria to use the weapon, yet still this message is appearing. It won't le me use any skills with this quarterstaff equipped.

Just for the record the quarterstaff is sanctified and was dessecrated before, although I don't see how those two would impact this situation.

I have further information, actually it isn't just that one quarterstaff, its anything I have just recently bought through trading on the standard league.

My theory is that these items where from the last "Rise of the Abyssals" league and are bugged, in a way that characters from the standard league can't use them.

Does it have runes in it? There are now limits to many runes.
