We should be able to farm skill gems SOMEHOW in Act2. For several reasons.

Reasons:
#1: You lowroll on RNG to the point of being stuck with lvl 6 gems and 1 level 8 gem by the end of Act2. Feels fucking terrible and you're better off just rerolling.

#2: You make fantasy-based decisions and end up playing something suboptimal (very much a thing here in EA). My friend tried to kill Jamanrah with a fireball over 20+ minutes. Like cmon, give him the option to not reroll (it took him like 15 hours to get to that point). Rerolling will inevitably mean just fucking off.

#3: You goof around and try to gradually pivot to another archetype (because experimentation is fun). Only now you're practically gear-checked by an act boss because of poor timing. Guess that's the end of that character.


Listen, I don't want them purchasable for gold. I want something like a repeatable event in a zone where you can FARM them. That does not sound efficient to do, but it does solve the problem.

Examples: You could farm level 8 gems at some point AFTER getting the gem reward at Tor'gul. You could farm level 5 gems in the start of A2. You could farm level 3 gems BEFORE Draven (fighting him as a witch who didn't pick Essence Drain is basically grounds for rerolling because the other skills as so terrible).

Farming gems is brutally gutted for some reason.
I do no know why.

Right now even a level relevant character gets very limited drops.

With specific numbers: Last league average 10 dreadnaught runs would get you 1 spirit gem 8 level. And 3-4 skill gems.

This league I couldn't get one in 30 runs. So I ended up buying the gem from the market.

More interesting: the chest were not dropping them as well.

Opening chests is different from killing monsters, and even the chest that were giving decent amount of gems, were not dropping them.

This convinces me that it is intended change.

I like to play as a melee witch but to get through act 1 I follow the minion path then swap in act 2.

Ive found gems so scarce that misusing 1 support gem can be a devastating mistake in acts 2/3.

We got gemlings in the lore, would seem fitting to farm some for low tier gems.
