Remove jewel from tree socket doesn't work [PS5]

When interacting with jewels on the tree, there are two choices: "remove" and "pick up". On PS, Remove is Square, and Pick Up is X.

If you press square with a jewel highlighted, nothing happens. (This feature worked until the start of this league). It used to put the jewel into an empty spot in your inventory with no need for further clicks or closing the tree.

If you press X, it "picks up" the jewel, and you can either socket in a different socket, or close the tree and put it in your character inventory.

But doing that 2nd part is much more annoying that using "remove", because it doesn't automatically move to an empty square, and you can only do one jewel at a time, since you have to close the tree to "put down" the jewel you picked up.
