Door won't open after New Herald fight

I beat the new herald in act 4 excavation. He told her to run and he would bury me, then his body shook and moved sideways off-screen. I got the quest Search: confront Kanu & new herald, but cant go past doors. I can see a little crown icon in the middle of the mini map square where i fought him.

I also re-logged and re-cleared zone, but no avail. this is my first toon going through campaign and cant get past this part in any way.
