Taking a Break – Feedback from a Solo SSF Player
|
Hey GGG,
I wanted to share a bit of feedback before I take a break from Path of Exile 2 for now. I’ve played a lot during The Third Edict expansion and currently have six characters, all sitting around level 75, but every one of them feels stuck. I play solo SSF, and while I truly love the game’s atmosphere, animations, and combat feel, progression has become really frustrating lately. 1. I have no clue how to get specific gear upgrades In SSF, it often feels like pure luck whether I find anything useful. I don’t know where to target certain bases or how to improve what I have. Some clearer in-game guidance for item acquisition (even basic hints) would go a long way. 2. Crafting still feels overly complex I’ve tried watching guides and experimenting, but I still don’t understand how to craft consistently better gear. Most of my attempts end up making my items worse, and that’s pretty demotivating. A more approachable early or mid-game crafting path would help a lot for players like me. 3. Abyssal rares are just miserable to fight They hit way too hard, take forever to kill, and often feel unfair compared to everything else in the same zone. I usually just skip them now, which feels bad when they’re supposed to be exciting encounters. Despite my frustrations, I still believe PoE 2 has massive potential. I’m just burned out for now. Hopefully, future patches will make solo SSF progression and crafting a bit more intuitive — because I really want to come back when that happens. Thanks for reading, and for all the work you’re putting into the game. /Jimmy Dernier bump le 23 oct. 2025 à 01:44:33

nice feedback.
I think PoE2 is not balanced towards SoloSelfFound tho. We are supposed to loot items for other classes, then trade them for currency/our class items. |

" You need to read the official wiki if you're going to play SSF. Unfortunately, the PoE2 wiki is less complete than the PoE1 wiki. But it will still tell you things like which Anomaly boss has which lineage support gem, or the fact that you have to farm Sekhemas to get Time-Lost gems. SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

Crafting is still not easy in SSF. It used to be way worst.
Still a lot of RNG involve. I would say try to not touch your good gear you are using to upgrade them but rather try to slowly craft another item until it's better than the one you are wearing. I start with a perfect transmutation and augmentation. Some are useless, some you can recombine them eventualy. At a moment you'll get a very good starting base. Than use an essence eventualy on it if it's not from recombinator. After that you want omens from rituals also and prob from abyss. You really need to do a lot of rituals to even get thoose, it's a very long grind. That is what make SSF nice for me, the very long grind aspect to it. Grind currencies, grind omens, grind bases,... Getting good upgrades in late game take really a lot of times. If you dont enjoy the long grind than SSF might not be for you also. Not sure it's easier in trade tbh since you would need to farm currencies also. And that's less rewarding overall than crafting your own gear slowly. You can also ask in the discussion section or on reddit when you have doubt or questions about crafting, some people are very smart at it and are happy to help. Always good to make a pause when you are burn out anyway. Better than ending up disgusted by the game. I'm sure all that will improve a lot with time also. They indeed put a lot of work in the game. Solo Self Found = Super Time Inefficient in POE2
The game is clearly balanced around trading unless you have 10+ hours to play daily. Only 5-10% of "good" things you are actually good for you specifically, but in trade there will be people willing to trade something that is good for you specifically for a lot of the things you pick up off the ground That being said ealry/mid game crafting is fairly decent IMO? And all you should need is - essences - homogenizing exaltation - homogenizing coronation - abyss desecration fossils Thats pretty much enough to give you a fairly decent set of items...
