Hot swapping between controller and M&K

Can we please get a hot swap functionality between controllers and mouse/keyboard? There are certain facets about the game that I prefer to do with a controller, and similarly for M&K. However, the need to exit to character selection to swap between control systems feels unnecessary. Why can't we just swap between inputs on the fly?

Implementing this would be a great QoL improvement in my opinion. Hopefully GGG will consider this in the near future.
