thank me later

Last Epoch did deterministic crafting. They were not profitable for 3 leagues, and then were bought out by Krafton.

Deterministic crafting is not fun, because you lose the very novelty that make looters fun.
Yeah Last Epoch at least has a good system, still with a bit of rng to it but it feels fair when you lose crafting potential on an item. In that game I don't mind farming another item, because crafting isn't some 500-step google spreadsheet that requires a PHD. The last time PoE 1 had anything even close to the affix shards system of LE was in Harvest League. And that was nerfed and watered down to what it is now.

Last Epoch was at its best during the time it's crafting was the most Deterministic.

We aren't playing to make the builds, we make the builds so we get to play using them.
The game is at its most fun when the build is fully made.
Playing PoE and demanding 100% deterministic crafting is like going to a high-end Sushi place and shouting at the chef because there's no buffalo chicken sandwich on the menu.

Like it's absolutely fine if that's your preference, but then why did you choose to come here in the first place? There are plenty of places that serve good buffalo chicken sandwiches. Just go there instead.

PoE was at its best during the time when it wasn't Last Epoch so I'm not sure where we're going with this.

Thank you, that's a great analogy. That's what I often wanted to say, but I just couldn't come up with the right explanation.
100% deterministic crafting = looted items be worthless and filtered out, except for the crafting bases.

Also, omens/items necessary for those crafts would be extremely rare and therefore expensive, which gates casuals from the crafting. At the same time market would not be flooded with items, as many players decided to filter these out, but is full of crafted items, which are expensive because of materials cost.

Also, most crafters would focus on items for meta builds, as these have more demand and higher prices, which would create a scenario where items for off-meta builds are harder to get.

That gates casual players from participating in deep end game even more.

I disagree. Without deterministic crafting or some other form of powerful crafting, good items will be astronomically more expensive because they will be more rare.
At least on SFF I can have decent items this league. And I doubt I could afford homogenizing omens on trade anyway.

Situation is already like what you said...i never saw a witthling, i saw 2 omen of light and others yet to be found.
Ancients are 1k+ exalted, essence of horrors is about 3 divs and all the ground loot you need are good blues or exceptional whites.

And crafting is not 100% deterministic, still have to chaos spam in some cases, use omen of light in other cases and trash the item in the worst case after you spent several divines in different currencies.

everything that you describe that "could" happen if crafting is 100% deterministic, is already happening.
