Performance is still "Abyssmal" GGG ignoring players
I loved this comment at the top of the Reddit sub's question thread:
" Told the guy no, GGG is still ignoring players' genuine concerns with the game's performance especially for those who have above THEIR recommended specs. I guess their vision for the game is to have people running around at 20-30 FPS even on low settings just because an Abyss event or 5 enemies are on the screen, RIP minion builds. Do not support GGG or give them anymore $ until they get off their rear ends and fix this garbage so that people can even play the game they pay for and have met or are above the hardware standards THEY set. I don't care about a reduced FPS.
What bothers me most is how stupidly long it takes to load anything. Maps, towns, even just viewing the atlas can take a solid minute, not to mention how much stress it puts on CPUs. It didn't used to be this bad in 0.1.x. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

" It's not supposed to take a long time, a minute? no way...looks like it's caching everytime or you're not playing from an SSD. Keep note that changing API and changing video card drivers will cause a recaching, this only happen once tho. Tech guy

I don't think they're "ignoring" players, I just think there's a lot of complexities around where the performance issues are coming from and it's hard to fix things in a way that will work on *everyone's* machine.
That said, slamming a sunder with herald of ash on a large group of mobs standing near a shrine on a map with shocked ground and corruption while an abyss pops brings me from 100FPS down to <1FPS (literal slideshow). With a gloom shrine, it only goes down to ~30FPS and my game stays responsive to my inputs, so I'm thinking corpses are at least a piece of the puzzle here. 5800X3D and a 7800XT with 32GB RAM, playing at 3440x1440. It gets significantly better when I play at 77% render resolution but then the game looks really bad and I'm a sucker for a beautiful game. |
