Problems with Infernal Legion and potential solution
Some feedback on infernal legion for the devs, hope it can get seen as i've not seen many people experimenting with infernal legion and not seen anyone discover this concern.
I've been trying out some infernal legion companion builds. I think damage-wise and effect wise infernal legion is in a great spot, its a lot of investment to get good damage out of it, but once you do its very comfortable. The main problem with it however, especially on companion versions is the radius. Its far too small, or rather the way its calculated is too small. This means that for larger beasts like the elephant often times their hitbox stops the enemy before they are even close enough to be ignited with infernal legion. This is a big issue as it leads to super inconsistant damage output and it just feeling super clunky. My suggestion is that you keep the radius a set value, but give it an offset based on how large the minion hitbox is. This would mean if your infernal legion has 2 meters radius for example: a bogfelled minion with a hitbox of 0.5m radius would have a total reach of 2.5m for infernal legion. Then an elephant with a 2m radius hitbox would have a 4m total radius infernal legion. If you are worried about area of effect, have this purely effect the infernal legion stat before the offset is added, and even give it a logarythmic scale so larger minions get less area of effect scaling, and less total reach. The main concern here is the hitbox contacting monsters before the infernal legion, so any solution that brings the starting point of infernal legion to the end of the hitbox would be good. I will also add that specifically with the Frozen Mandible companion, it's attack animation makes it stop before it gets within infernal legion range, so it's swinging there for 1-2seconds before the enemy eventually runs into it's infernal legion range.
This is also with a lot of area of effect investment, even using the arsonists on abyssal lich. This would be way way worse on a build with none of this investment. |
