0.3.1 mapping

I guess most people run 5 mod maps to give them a chance to return to it (to have 1 revive extra).

Now we did 1 map (the Tower run) with 6 mods to get 3 tablets. If you died, you could do it again, no biggie (you of course lose the 'things' if there were any on the Tower node itself, probably not).

Now we will have to keep hurling multiple tablets in our inventory to pop them in the node WHILE having to do ALL SIX mod maps to have access to 3 slots for the tablets. How is that good? Previously, I did one 6 mod map, now I need to do it every map. And people are hyped about this? Seriously?

Give me my normal Tower runs back please, I had 0 issues with them, they are a nice change of pace.

Yeah, so a few things going on here man.

1) Tablets after the patch are being tripled in power, so two tablet runs in 0.3.1 will be the equivalent of 6 tablets or two towers covering every single map you run 100% of the time. That's an insane buff over the current setup no matter how you slice it.

2) The thought of running 5-mod maps deliberately just for an extra portal never occurred to me and I seriously doubt "most" people are doing this; it sounds like you need to tighten up your build if you're dying often enough to make that tradeoff worthwhile.

OK so a few things here man:

1) I have been playing this game since closed Beta (not PoE2, PoE1). I am pretty familiar with the shortcomings of their game design throughout the years, no worries there. My build is fine, I have finished all of the game content, and still, the rippiest ones are the maps as they have been since 2013.

2) Their words in the trailer; paraphrased: "before you needed to find multiple towers to juice their maps, now you can just add tablets". OK, before I had before 6 "things" (hi Elon) on map and now I am stuck with 3 (of my choice).

3) Before I did one run of a potentially rippy map (the Tower) to get 3 tablet effects, now I must do it every map. I am unsure how your thought process is, but it doesn't seem correct to me to think these are at all similar things.

4) I will have to micro manage tablet all the time in the inventory (or eventually some Atlas UI bag if/when they implement it), like the game doesn't have micro already, guess this was a genius idea someone thought of on a coffee morning one day and in their shortsightedness they decided to implement it.

"this changes allows you to benefit fully from tablets" - no, no it doesn't now I had 6 effects on 1 map, now I will have max 3 WHILST being forced to run a 0 revive (lag + game's utter garbage visual clarity) 6 modded or a corrupted 8 modded map (increasing chances of the actual cancer mods -max, ele pen etc...)

Nah even I run 4 mod maps for the portals, just with Guilt infused Delirium. Not cause my build sucks, but because I'm a nervous pussy who doesn't want to risk losing the map mechanics.

That said, since the tablets will force the mechanics into the map they're slotted into, I wonder if it means you'll be able to still run at least those mechanics again if you die, that'd be pretty sweet and wouldn't make me sweat 6 mod maps.

Either way though, I think this more cements the idea that you ought not to be juicing your maps like crazy before your build's ready, so I'm not overly concerned about that whole bit. People'll get used to it and the pros outweigh the cons.

Ah, and to address this bit, you'll get to choose at least 3 map mechanics, others are randomly thrown in and generated. Kinda like the azmeri spirits, strongboxes, and shrines

Just like in PoE1, you can still get Expedition without Expedition scarabs or atlas passives
Honestly, I was just slapping boss tablets on every tower, so this is a buff for me straight off the bat. Other than that, it's always been a choice between playing the game normally, you know, for fun. Or going ruthless efficiency and making it a second job, nothing changed, except the RNG part of finding overlapping towers. It is however probably a nerf for the ruthless efficiency types specifically, since you were previously able to 4 tower for 12 tablets and honestly from the examples shown, the tablets did not in fact look 3 times as powerful. All in all, they seem to have made my casual strolls more enjoyable and nerfed the hyper juicing, so maybe the forum wouldn't be filled with "muh economy is ruined 3 minutes into the new league" posts.
Can't run juiced content on 5 mod because the 2nd best atlas passive gives effect to everything per mod on the map, and yes there is a massive difference between 5-6. Especially when it does the thing you want and hits unstable energies and gets increased further.

Precursors work like fragment stacks in poe1, you just stick them in the map device and they will stay until they run out of uses or you take them out. So it is not going to be too fiddly either.

They will have better effect to match the less overlap we get, you will get to choose the content you run it on instead of hoping good layouts magically spawn.

You are fighting ghosts man, its just a better system.
