If you have a softcore build: once you are halfway through a level, run easier maps until you level up.
SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

Based and true. Exp penalty is an outdated game mechanic from 2 decades ago that should have been forgotten forever. |

Omen of amelioration is pretty cheap. You should buy that. Once you are in the 90s and death XP penalty matters you should have hundreds of exalts and be able to buy a new omen every ~10+ maps without feeling it. If you die more often then run maps with less mods.
As for your answer - yes, they want you to spend a thousand hours to hit level 100. That said, you should be able to hit 95 in 1/10th the time without much effort. |

There's a fundamental misunderstanding as to what constitutes a "masochist".
Lets start with the opposite: Everything should be easy, and a given, or there's no point. Lemme throw a little shade on that: Softcore builds are bad. You don't know how to do anything but stack dps. Any child can take all the dps nodes. A real build does not die. Your boss encounters are mostly hitless. Of course they're deathless, you wouldn't be on HC otherwise. The game can be played without dying once. Stop trying to nerf things because you are not good. |
