As I toil away at the map, I'm curious what ideas other players have that would make the endgame more fun. Just adding some of my own thoughts! ^^
EXTENDED CAMPAIGN - I like the idea of the
Interlude. One of my favorite parts of the game is the campaign. I'm a casual player, and minus using the merchant tab to upgrade gear, the campaign is a good crawl. Having optional content, like the
Interlude after the campaign is definitely something I would do.
COMPANIONS - Useful in mid-game and a lot of fun to collect, I don't think I've seen any endgame builds that make use of them. Maybe introduce a Mercenary system that includes more than just Beasts and opens up companions as viable endgame content. Maybe open up bosses as companions, not just rare monsters.
ENDLESS TRIALS - Compete in an endless trial where each wave, monster level is increased, and rewards area increased. Final reward is based on the last wave the player successfully defeated.
BOUNTIES - Specific Rogue Exiles appear on the map that you need to track down and defeat for additional rewards.
UNIQUE BIOMES - Imagine a cluster of unique maps. You found an area of scorched earth that was previously raided, or a section of ice caves in the mountains.
PINNACLE GEAR - Instead of replacing gear, craft gear (attuned) that levels with your character and grows as you grow in strength.
MULTI-STAGE MAPS - Dungeons that grow increasingly harder as you go deeper into each stage of a single map. Similar to the stages in the Black Cathedral, you could choose to keep final boss rewards or increase the difficulty and go to the next stage.
MAP IMPROVEMENTS - Maps can get redundant and unwieldy. More quality-of-life improvements to filter/find areas you've unlocked. More ways to clear fog and set goals. Maybe allow players to fortify areas around their base (Hideout) and periodically have those areas sieged by monsters.
UNIQUE CRAFTING - Randomized crafting recipes that are unique to the player, allowing them to reforge uniques with new modifiers.
