Chilled Ground Over Tuned

Chilled ground is probably the most annoying mod for maps and it seems to land on 80% of my map rolls when trying to juice maps.

The main issue with it is it doesn't even really feel like something making the map more difficult its just rage inducing and makes me feel like I'm lagging.

When rolling maps with the omen of chaotic rarity I'm getting roughly 8/10 maps pulling the chilled ground modifier and I pretty much cant use them because it just takes me 2/3 as long to get through the map since 90% of the map is covered in it leaving no space to try run around it.

Please tune down how much it effects movement speed/attack(action) speed as it makes the maps so un-fun rather than anymore difficult

You're using an omen that specifically puts rarity modifiers on a waystone. Chilled ground is one of those modifiers.

Thank you for clearing that up -
Should I expect to roll it 8/10 times for first point
Secondly, the main concern of this post is that the modifier itself is over tuned.

Thanks for information though, btw water is wet
Player uses the thing that adds the modifier they don't like to maps.

Calls for nerf.

Never crosses their mind to stop using the thing that adds the modifier they don't like.

Anyways, I'm sure they'll add more rarity modifiers in the future and dilute the pool. Good luck.

Yes, all orbs can add that prefix. I have a whole stash tab with chilled maps. Just adding modifiers one by one.

That being said (and to whoever mentions silver charm) the placement of the patched is next to entirely unavoidable, it slows everything. I used less duration in chill and holy descent and it's still terrible.

You ever feel like you're from another dimension or something? Like logic and reason only exist wherever you came from?

If you weight your maps for rarity, like the OP, you will have an increase in mods that add rarity. Chilled ground is that mod. Roll them normally and it is weighted less. Not zero, less. I dunno how else to explain it.

I wont even go in to what a nothingburger chilled ground is. There are other threads.

Aside from whether I use the rarity roll or not chilled ground is still over tuned, again being the main issue I'm raising with this forum post.

Also think its pretty fair for me with a lot of hours played in to this game since release to voice an opinion of something I find the most off putting about the game. Running maps with this modifier makes the game un-fun. This is an area for early access feedback.

Again - FYI - Water is wet

I believe I do have an excellent understanding how weights(0) work. I do roll the maps 'normally', yet I have a full stash tab of chilled ground, somehow. I appreciate others being condescending as well not just me.

My understanding is that the weights of the waystones are not available, only that chill affects one quarter of the map tiles.

(0): Place each entry a binary tree (sorted map) with current accumulated sum of all items this far as the key. the roll a random number 0, weightSum (inclusive, exclusive). Find the entry with by using floor of the sorted map. Can replace the binary tree with an array and use binary search, too.

I disagree. There are many ways to mitigate it. Including ignoring all slows and even a chestpiece that a savvy player may use to completely reverse the effect.
