Campaign is far better
I made a big post about how my kid cannot get on wtih the game and hasnt made it past act 2 boss because 0.1 an d0.2 were really hard.
This time he got past the boss with his necro build and me on ranger. In parties the bosses have so much more health! But he got to act 4 this time - and was having a lot of fun. Act 2 feels v long and the boss is obnoxiously hard - i ended up having to trade for a bow to get through. Also ascendencies are super hard with 2 people - it was the ascendency and not being able to do it that nearly made him quit this time. Spike and flame traps are very annoying ways to die. The red balls from the snakes seem really punishing for the second person I really enjoyed the format of the 3 throw away expansions. Id love to see little forays into lore like that. Is there something in endgame that coudl work for that? Maybe league mechanics can have back story to progress or something? Abyss is ace - bringing more stuff to do with item mods in game would be really good. It would be ace if the acts could be a bit like ... some core 2-3 acts of story but then the rest varies league by league. also a4 was amazing People complain about levelling because its looong - having new stuff that wasn't really hard was nice. I was lightning arror ranger and with 3-4 skills that all multiply it was pretty broken but then others aer getting to that point also. Mapping is fun - enjoyed getting the first couple of points in the side trees. i dont think the main tree feels impactful enough. in poe 1 i really enjoy picking a mechanic for early maps to try to profit. Here most of my currency come sform flipping on auction house - which i actually like. When i dont have enough for an upgrade or a crafting sess being able to dump it all into investments there is really nice. in poe2 league mechanics feel like more stuff and less a decision. I feel like waystones have replaced a map by map decision I don't know why - but i still haven't used crafting to make myself decent stuff - i have bought it all. have attempted to raft a few things but honestly what ive sold has never justified the cost as im so late to the party. I really dont like going on craft of exile - its amazing. but i just want to play. the ingame auction house is great (esp since pseudo mods ... wildcard would be nice. Somethign to swap ele resistances / attack mods would be excellent. Its so annoying to finally isolate 2 good mods, essence somethign else then exalt and get the wrong resist. the abyss essence is great. The campaign is straight and utter trash, how you can say it is even subpar good I have no idea. I have seen ai slop videos on Youtube that have more flare and dramatics than the campaign. They just need to let us skip it after you beat it once. That's how bad it is and most of the community hates it, that's how bad it is. Its 2025, nearly 2026 who plays a game for the story anyways? Everyone(me included) zoomed to mapping on day one, and everyone(me included) was done with the league by day 3. They should just scrap the campaign all together and/or make it an optional component. Keep it as part of the game but don't force players to have to engage with it.

" Most of the community? That's why 130k people are still playing? Because they hate it. Just because _you_ hate it, and a vocal _minority_ on these forums, doesn't mean the _majority_ hates it. Theres plenty of other games, if you don't like how this one works. |

i completely disagree with above people saying you should be able to skip the campaign.
as it stands though it is far too long - but in principle i dont mind playing through the campaign. It should be different to maps, it should matter. There should be various gates - but also ways to surpass them. ATM a lot of this is hard because it was hard to get the DPS. But also the acts take a veery long time. poe1 takes me about 6 hours to get through and even that makes me dread a new toon. i want to make another char - but i cba getting through it all. The problem with campaign is that a) it takes an awful long time. Act 4 could be the whole game, but playing it through the one time i have was a great experience. Act 1,2,3 dragged in variopus places and take too long to do now. b) less so now, but its easy to get into situations where you lack damage + the tools to get more damage. So you get soft locked - which for my kid results in upset. I end up buying weapons off trade in campaign - pretty sure the goal was for people to craft them ... |
