The state of DOTs for casters in POE2 0.3

I've experimented with lots of builds in POE1 over the years. And one of my favorites was blood magic fireball witch that proliferated ignite. It was awesome to watch how everything melts and dies before they can reach me.

So I tried to do ignite build in POE2 as well.
In 0.1 I made a fire chronomancer. It was godawful. Fire spells in general had pretty bad damage and full of gimmicks (I STILL hate ember fusillade and I refuse to use it!).

I tried once again in 0.3. I made fire stormweaver. And while in general it was substantially better, it still felt lackluster. I got to level 91 and stopped. Clear speed was decent. Single target damage - kinda bad. And, once again, ignite was terrible. Even with all the investment in magnitude and whatnot - damage from ignite was barely even noticeable. Burning inscription is a joke as well. Barely tickles anything regardless of how much mana I got.

The next thing I decided to try is bone cage blood mage with unborn lich staff and bleep/poison. Blood mage can aggravate bleed and poison support deals more damage against bleeding targets. So I thought, hey, there's a synergy here. Should work.
Well, it worked... poorly. Again, even with all the investment into bleed, ailments magnitude, instilling amulet for more ailment magnitude, sekhema resolve rings with even more ailment magnitude jewels... The end result was kinda garbage.
Yes, I was clearing maps, but it wasn't fun. It was slow and I struggled.

Today, I gave up. I re-specced my passives, threw away all the bleed nodes, removed poison support, went all in on just raw damage. Instilled my amulet with Goring. And it is SO MUCH BETTER it's not even funny in comparison!
My clear speed at least doubled. And since everything dies faster, I also feel safer in regards with survivability. Not that I died much before, but still.

I really hope that GGG will tweak DOTs in the future. Because at the moment - they suck. At least on casters.
And one could say "well they are supposed to be complimentary damage". In that case tell me, what's the point in having passive tree nodes that supposed to make DOTs better, if it's a waste of points to take them?
Same thing goes for support gems that give +100% magnitude in exchange for -30% hit damage. Since ignite/bleed/poison depend on the initial hit damage, not only these gems make damage output of the spell worse, they also REDUCE damage output of DOTs those spell would inflict, compared to if you simply put in more gems that improve hit damage.

So, yeah... Disappointing.
