Item expectations and why its ruining my experience
Right now I'm finding it difficult to play the game normally. Item expectations once everyone sort of figured out how to make good gear are through the roof. Item drops on the ground are feeling quite worthless because of this. I've heard others and considered myself filtering out even tier 5 gear drops because they just can't compete with what is currently makeable. Its difficult to feel my time is worth it unless I'm hunting for uber drop level items. Rakitas, exceptional dex based gear (the socket ones at least) gems from ubers, grand spectrum, etc... This loop is super dry if you just get unlucky and clashes a lot with how I've felt about other leagues.
In essence this comes from the power of the crafting system. The fact people are able to homo slam items with all 6 affix's they want (depending on the gear) makes trying to match that level of item from the ground an impossible task Now with inflation earning ones way to enough money to participate in crafting 3 weeks into the league is already crazy. For a basic chaos we are dealing with 7ex-1 chaos already. This wouldn't feel so bad if making a divine wasn't a huge task playing as the slow warrior class. I've wasted my time so much trying to pick up gear hoping to find something good like in the last leagues just to find out I should have been full converting all my currency into crafting components so I could benefit from reselling at the JACKED prices. Inflation is in full force and it is already 7x more expensive to continue trying to iterate on my gear. Overnight it felt like essence of horror went from 300 ex to 1.3k because some youtubers posted how powerful they were at making perfectly crafting GARANTEED gloves. Why can you just ALWAYS make perfect exceptional gloves? Overall the power of the crafting system is disgusting to me. It completely feels like the worth of ground items is gone. I have several items in my shop that I thought I would be able to sell for a div here or there but they aren't even close to what is currently expected from gear now because of how crazy you can make things with crafting alone and yet to participate now is so expensive... Idk I remember a post saying that you at ggg wanted ground loot to feel valuable. Normal rares just don't do it for me right now. Either you hit a crazy item worth 20-30 divs or more or just you might as well only pick up currency and crafting and WHITES. Not even the power of tier 5 affix culling can compete with the power of homo omen and essence omen. I want to see these removed. Powerful crafting should be at least more random. I can't hope to enjoy picking up items and identifying them if someone else can just ALWAYS make gloves with 100% more effect of sockets, 2 sockets from exceptional, always attack speed, always critical damage bonus of up to 29% and ALL 3 attack rolls from like tier 3 upwards. Like what are the REAL odds of finding an item that good from the ground. To be honest I think I just want to see those omens removed. The power of them is just too much and in combination with perfect exalts some items types just got fully solved. There is a bottom line standard to meet and its just to high it's absurd. Edit - I did also forget to mention the interaction with abyss and the omen of light making this problem even worse. Omen of light and abyss being used to remove affix's from the pool and block them out is just crazy powerful as well. Then guaranteed removing it and rerolling it "infinitely" until you hit something you want. Yeah its just definitely too good.

Trade should just be removed from the game entirely. I don't want my enjoyment of the game to be determined by market forces. If you're in-game poor you have less fun?!!? Sounds like a terrible system to me.

The problem isnt that crafting is too strong.
The problem is that exceptional bases exists and that runes are so powerful. You can find the most amazingly rolled boots or gloves and they will have almost zero value. And this is not because crafting good gloves/boots is too easy or cheap but its because no one will pay big money for well rolled boots/gloves with 1 socket when they can buy a base with 2 sockets. Maybe some parts of crafting should be nerfed, like fracturing desecrated bases, etc. But for the most part I think its fine. I do however hope they dont keep exceptional bases going forward because it devalues non exceptional drops by so much. | |

The fact one can guarantee craft an exceptional base into a more than passable 6 affix item makes it so a normal items value is completely useless. Lets say the first 3 affix's were always going to be able to become good, but the crafting options for the last 3 are much less FORCEABLE like homogenizing omen and omen of light plus abyss make it. it makes it so god tier exceptional items aren't a dime a dozen. Then a regular pair of boots holds its value for much longer. Part of my difficulty is how quickly the power shifted away from normal items and not that exceptional items are well exceptionally good. I just want a world where not after 1 and a half weeks a pair of 35% movespeed triple resist boots don't ONLY sell for 1 div after 8 days of waiting... Like I have dropped many pieces of gear this league that I thought from the last 2 leagues would have been really good for money and at last they sold like all 1 div or less. This is, in my perspective, due to the sheer power of crafting ON exceptional bases being too easy. The items I got were NOT exceptional and after 1.5 weeks players were just past the point of my items having value to most. Like I love for ssf that the grind for items is long because you can't control what you drop but trade felt so RUSHED because you can just power up so fast right now. If you didn't play in the first week its like you miss out so much on selling "mediocre" non exceptional items for REAL value and now you just are super far behind the inflation on top of that... |

exceptional bases drop on the ground. perfect exalted orbs and perfect chaos orbs drop on the ground. fracturing orbs, omens of light, ancient bones and abyssal echoes omens drop on the ground. T5 Unid Magic items can provide double ideal T1 mods as a perfect starting point for crafting without the need of annul spam.
Maybe you're forgetting about all of these and more things that drop on the ground and are a huge adrenaline rush to see them BECAUSE the crafting system is strong? Also, exceptional uniques drop on the ground... |
