Is it really necessary to have Abysses spawn in boss arenas?

I recently had the displeasure to encounter an Abyss in the middle of that small Savannah boss arena:
 I mean, I'm not complaining about the loot and if that would happen everytime you encounter an Abyss in a boss arena, by all means, bring it on! However, I doubt that this is the case and it was just a lucky accident, so is it really necessary to have Abysses spawn in such places? Or is this a bug? Dernier bump le 18 sept. 2025 à 10:07:32

In 2 cases i had the abyss in the molten vault or core map. With the boss at the end that hits the wall and you have to use a lift to get down to them. In both cases the abyss was down there.
The only problem i had with this was that one box was in an unreachable area. Could not open the box because i couldnt reach it. The box spawned directly near the boss and was at the end of the fight not reachable. |

I wonder actually, in the Livestream they said and showed that if an Abyss spawns in the boss arena and u kill the boss, an Abyss Larva would spawn.
Well so far I killed a few Bosses with Abyss spawns right underneath and never did I get a Larva spawn. Anyone else having this problem? I'm not personally entirely sure what the Abyss mechanic is. Having cleared all the cracks I often have sealed up 'holes' which look like they should have spawned a chest but didn't.
I even watched their Reveal again to make sure I wasn't missing something. They seem to just say you need to kill the special enemies that spawned near the cracks (and thus have the green visual effect). Is there a time limit of some sort? Do you need to kill the green monsters near where the chest can appear? Or near the crack? Like if you kite them away will they no longer cause the abyss to open up? " Thanks - seems like I'm not missing anything obvious at least. Sorry for the derail. On the OP, I like the idea of Abyss affecting bosses and doing something different. In practise I can imagine it being a complete PITA on certain bosses/arenas. |
