Darkness calculation bugged?

I was trying to make a chaos resistance stacking Acolyte of Chayula Monk to get more value out of the Darkness, but it turns out the Deepening Shadows node only takes into account my maximum chaos resistance (currently 85%) instead of my uncapped chaos resistance (currently 144%), so I just ended up spending 6 ascendency points and investing into some chaos resistance gear only to get a measly 1435 darkness at level 75, which feels WAY too little for an investment of 6 whole ascendany points (Chayula's Gift, Embrace the Darkness, Deepening Shadows)

Also if it really is bugged and gets fixed so I can continue stacking chaos resistance, it would be nice to get some tertiary value of getting lots of it since there currently is no node on the skill tree nor any unique that uses chaos resistance for anything meaningful.

I ran into the same thing. I'm not sure if it is bugged or not, but if it is by design then the wording of Deepening Shadows should be clearer.

To me, "+1% increased maximum Darkness per 1% Chaos Resistance" is deceptive.

If the wording "+40% to Chaos Resistance" adds % to your uncapped resistance, then I expect Deeping Shadows to work the same way.

With the current design, the description should be "+1% increased maximum Darkness per 1% capped Chaos Resistance".

There’s also something bugged: it’s the amount of damage taken when it’s damage over time. I have 1600 Darkness when I touch a patch of fire on the ground, and it goes down to zero instantly.

why did I not see this earlier?
also had to learn the hard way that darkness scaling is capped at max chaos res.

had 640% chaos res and still 1300 darkness.
anyone in need of chaos gear?
