[0.3] Abyss rare monsters are overturned

From campaign perspective: The abyss mechanic seems fair, maybe too much density of enemies, but the main problem is the rare monsters.
They hit hard, but most annoyingly is their huge life pool. You feel like the encounter is solved and still trying to kill them. Imo, they should have the same baseline stats as the same lvl area rare monsters. Just wait until you enter an abyss dungeon and there are 2x mortar rares right next to each other who are both running the Magma Mines build from PoE1 (literally fill the ENTIRE SCREEN with bouncing magma).

Abyss is hard as hell, but also rewarding as hell. I got my perfect jewelers orb and few divines from abyss content. So far it feels worth a few deaths.

Its rewarding yes but its so cancer wonder if they even tested it themselves no way they thought 4 rares spawning at once was a good idea.

Essentially what happens.
You encounter the Abyssals. The screen turns dark green. Some green monsters roaming around. Screen is shaking. Blur. Smoke. I just can't see shit most of the time. There is so much clutter on the screen. The screen shaking is especially annoying. |

The coolest thing is with snake mobs. They spend almost all their time diving and completely ignore incoming damage (like mobs in the abyss in POE1), and in rare form they also have an abyss buff during which they are again completely immune to any damage.

I don't know if this is a bug or is supposed to be like this.
When I go into the Abyss the rare snake monsters (that appear next to each other) run towards me almost instantly and they start to make the action of attacking me but no damage is done to me (they look like they are dry humping me lol) and i cannot damage the rare monster either. Is only when the snake goes under to do an aoe attack that i'm only able to do some damage until it starts happening again. It makes it very hard and annoying, specially if they have that poison mod that they spam on the whole screen or maybe it looks like is the whole screen because i keep running around because i can't damage the rare. Does anybody else have this problem? |

I went to an Abyssal Depth, got to the end rare mob...
It had a fucking chaos damage circle of death that it casts every fucking 3 seconds and would kill me in 4 seconds if I stay near it. I am playing melee build soo I had to run every time it casts that and use a potion. BUT WAIT, it fucking TELEPORTS on me every 5 seconds. No problem, I heavy stun it and then I can throw my Ancient Boosted Forge Hammer on it. Except Forge Hammer takes 2 years to go out and the fucking thing immediately teleport onto me when the stun ends. 2 minutes and 7 potion charges later, I am dead, Abyssal Depth is lost, mob still not death. Talk about overtunned. |

The basic mechanic is good but those rares... Especially those spiderlegged rares with the megabeams of death and endless teleports are way overpowered. In the time I kill the campain bosses of the same level they loose maybe 10% of their life. And they can spawn those beams way to far away while the sources of the beams are hidden in all that flashy green.
Has anybody have any hints how to evade those beams easier? All my four deaths so far were to those because once hit by them your stuck in them until you die. |
