New craftings stuff is a bloated mistake. Just cull low level mods on high level items FFS.

First we had tiered unidentified items and now we have tiered currency. This is getting ridiculous. Every item and currency orb that drops is now going to be irrelevant garbage within the first week of a league if it isn't a tiered drop. This isn't progression this is dumpster diving at an industrial level.

Having high ilvl items naturally cull lower tier mods from their weight pool would literally fix all of these awkward gear progression problems without bloating the game with an ocean of garbage drops that crash your game when you play without a loot filter.

Please cease this madness GGG.

you can't cull mod tiers because you would have to make drops rare. 0.1 had less drops but with very and i mean very decent mods. people raged because they didn't see loot. so in 0.2 we had shit ton of drops with completely random mods, and the tiered currency and rare bases are a way to ameliorate the loot buffs of 0.2. don't worry about crashing your rig, we are not even a fraction of loot vomit of poe1 here

Not necessarily. It's not like a natural global culling mechanic would cull as many tiers as tiered items and currencies do. The end average would be the same, but the mass majority of items that drop would be better and tiered loot just wouldn't drop. Less dumpster diving for diamonds and more thrift shopping for hidden gems so to speak.

so if we don't reduce drops but improve them massively how would that make 'average the same'? the power creep form that would be insane

also un-ID tiers are the best thing for loot so i hope that never goes away

Because even though the low end of loot is buffed, the high end that is tiered items would be removed to even things out. I'm also not actually against non-unique item quantity being slightly lowered too.

The point is that with a change like this that items won't NEED to drop as unidentified tiered items in order to have a practical chance of being usable.
