Priest of the Sun is... odd.
Many enemies in the game are designed well.
One of my personal favourites is Burdened Wretch. He hits very hard with his pillar attack. This is balanced by him having a long windup and being slow, so you can see his attack and dodge in time. Other enemies hit faster and/or are less avoidable, but in turn deal less damage. Now let's take a look at Priest of the Sun, particularly his fire laser. I enter maps 7 levels below mine, at max fire res, unjuiced, and lose 3000 HP to it. It's undodgeable*, because it keeps tracking you at high speed. It also has a ridiculous range, and will hit you from out of screen without you being able to see it, let alone close the gap, and especially not if it's so far away you have multiple enemy packs inbetween. You cannot hide behind terrain, as it hits through walls. I have tried outrinning it as well, but it has seemingly infinite range. It sticks out like a sore thumb, it doesn't fit the relative strength of other monsters in the area, nor is an ability that hits for so much *and* is undodgeable *and* goes through terrain remotely fair. If other monsters in the area were of similar danger, then it would at least be balanced to other monsters, but that is far from the case as well. The balance here is all over the place. Both the damage and the range of that fire beam are way overtuned. (*Not sure if characters with shields can block it, they probably can, but I'm a Witch player, so this is from my PoV) Dernière édition par Fae_Lyth#6750, le 7 août 2025 à 07:42:11 Dernier bump le 7 août 2025 à 07:35:42
