Suggestion for armor and evasion defense balance
TL DR : Please give classes that rely on armor and evasion, mercenary for example, option to increase his maximum life from nodes on the skill tree, that way we can make armor and evasion equally as appealing defense option as Energy shield.
Let me elaborate: Hopefully my feedback is appreciated and someone considers my suggestion cause i really believe that's how we make a nice balanced enjoyable experience coming out of early access. My 2 cents on the feedback POE 2 after 400 hours is this: I have 2 characters one Witch that uses Energy shield, and one crossbow mercenary that uses armor and evasion as per the related perks on the tree. As you have noticed people are vocal about the imbalance around defense layers, saying that energy shield is by far the superior defense option. Playing both these characters, armor and evasion on one and pure ES on the other, i have to agree. Armor and Evasion kinda work as long as the enemies don't have one shot potential on you. While Energy shield can take almost any one attack and not die. My suggestion is to give classes, mostly those that don't rely on Energy shield, some passive nodes to increase max hp. I searched the tree and found none for my mercenary except those that give regen hp which are, let's say not very useful. This way you make their armor and evasion layer multiple times much more effective. (if i had 2 or 2.5 k hp instead of 1.5 it would be a world of difference) Anyways, i believe you don't make armor and evasion stronger by adding more armor and evasion on top of it, you make it stronger by adding options like more hp to enhance the armor and evasion that you already have. The same way that adding more physical damage% on a character with lot's of pysical damage% and no attack speed will result in a less efficient result than putting some attack speed to multiply all the physical damage% you already have. Adding hp nodes on armor + evasion characters will result in making every point of their newly attained hp work with all the armor and evasion nodes they already have to have a more well balanced defense layer. +1 but i doubt Devs would take it to serious account bro. Disgusting to see game with 80% ES players. Not fun , not productive, not cooperative.

yeah agree about crossing that 2k HP threshold, but i wouldn't do it via hp% on tree. instead make gear upgrades lil more manageable for late endgame. the shuffling of resistances is again PITA since we got more runes, so rune slots can't help much.
I think bringing Chromatic orbs back with: 'randomly change elemental affix to another element, with a chance of downgrading its tier' would be better here and allow that 2k threshold be crossed easier. life on tree will be very boring way to solve this, and will result in most builds pathing to those nodes. |

After 575 hours of playing this game, I agree. Frankly, armor and evasion each need work, let alone armor and evasion combined. I love the game, but I have a lot of gripes, and I can only hope they fix these kinds of problems before the full release.

If Devs don't see it as balance problem between ES and other defences, then nothing good will come with patch 0.3.0.
The fact that no announcements made until so far about patch 0.3.0 , making the curiosity even more dissaponted. Personally i don't expect nothing from GGG any more. They don't bother even to fix the simple bugs we've posted 4 months ago. It is impossible for this team to take in account of any posts made about balance issues. |

Evasion being worthless is why I quit playing deadeye, even with acrobatics after the soft stun bs they added in 0.2 you're still getting stunned quickly then killed with 60+%!

" New skill: grim breakfast. Killing mobs drops a blood... ball. Blood balls restore 2000 life and can overcap life to 2x normal. Still not as powerful as grim feast was so i think its fair. "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

" It's impossible becouse Passive Tree didn't mented for this. Only Mana end ES benefited from this. It is a huge balance issue and thous people quiting warrior and merc class for other with more survibility. |

I like the idea of putting ways to get more life in the armor/evasion part of the skill tree, although I think even better would be to lower ES values while also lowering monster damage across the board. I'm concerned that additional life nodes would end up being a skill point tax on certain classes.
For what it's worth, I think evasion is in a decent spot compared to armor. Building armor leaves you vulnerable to most attacks in the game...including big physical hits. It doesn't feel like armor. |
