Why in POE1 game prefer pick up loot over attack?

I play a lot in POE2. In settings we have toggle: prefer attack or pick up when press A button (Xbox). Now i try play in POE1 and this is terrible. Game always force to pick up loot over skill use/attack bind to A button. When mob stand on loot, you cant attack - you musy pick up loot. But of you have full backpack - loot just jump up and down (cuz you dont have space) - i must use attack binded to another button, to save my self or run away from loot, to kill mob.

This is normal or some kind bug?

It's a new change in PoE1. Some people hate it. Some people love it. Most people seem to be indifferent.

Two things I might suggest:

1) Having played both ways, I recommend not binding a skill to the "interact" button in PoE1 (this is X on PS, I think maybe A on XBox?). I find the game is just better when you have a dedicated interact button. Especially because most leagues end up with at least one bug that stems from having a skill on X (or sometimes only specific skills on X... Convocation used to cause all sorts of problems when on X.)

2) If this is a big/frequent problem for you, then your loot filter is probably not as strict as it should be. The only times the ground should be absolutely covered in loot is during certain highly juiced endgame strategies. And, even in those, the loot explosion is usually after the monsters are dead.

You can customize a filter to your liking using the Filterblade website, or, on PoE1, you can use the built-in Neversink filters. I recommend starting out on Semi-strict when you're a brand new player early in the campaign, then moving to Strict by the time you reach maps. By the time you're in red maps, you want to be on Very Strict.

Now, personally, there are some things in Neversink's base filter that I don't agree with, so I customize my own using his website (Filterblade), starting with his filter as a base and making the changes I want.

You could also copy or follow someone else's filter. A lot of PoE streamers (both 1 and 2) make their own filters, which you can "follow" on this website, or copy and customize.

(I haven't played PoE2 in a while, it's possible they've added built-in filters to that as well since the last time I played).

Hi, just want to say that I truly hate this new way of default pickup or anything else than using your skill binded on X. Been playing for about 2 years and first time I see this change and for me it is a very negative game changer.

I can live with it, of course, I love the game too much, I just want to add a voice to people hating this change. I truly not understand why some people love it, trying to figure out 1 positive aspect, can't find any, but I also understand that it's like that. Maybe one day I will understand.

So here is for me why this change is a pain;
- on controller, the easiest button to press is X
- You now cannot put a skill there, so you are removing a button. It's hard enough sometimes to not have more buttons, now we have 1 less button
- The problem is not just the filter. If there is a chess, a door, or anything with an action, it will do that instead of using your skill
- There is very few things I don't like in poe1, for me it is the best game out there. But I can tell you that by far, this is the thing I hate the most

So because the way I play I absolutely need a skill there, this is what I do;
- I no longer put my primary skill there, so that means I use square now.
- I put a skill that I sometimes need in some situations but still need quick access. So what I do in this situation is trying to quick travel in a spot I see nothing to open (or position myself differently), pickup, etc.... and do my skill and hoping (still missing it often). Been playing console games since they exist and X has always been my primary thing. Very not intuitive to have your primary skill somewhere else for the first time in my life, in any games I played.

That said, all this is not a complaint, just my thoughts.

I play on xbox and have assigned niko as my atlas passives.

The game seems to prioritize dialogue when using A button (interact) near NPC (in my case Niko), monsters and loot during maps.

This has got me killed a couple of times this league when i get stuck in dialogue with Niko in the middle of combat. Monsters swarm me and kill me when i try to get out of the dialogue so i can defend myself.

It's a really cruel way to kill a charachter.

My suggestions:

1. Pause the game while in dialogue.
2. Is it really necessary to have this dialogue pop up in combat at all? I think it's best to just remove this dialogue that pops up on every single sulphite node.
3. Add invulnerbility and invisibility while in dialogue.
4. Don't make dialogue priority for interact/attack button.
