Item mod pool issues
After tinkeing a bunch with the current system and trying to get something going, especially after my (brief) return to PoE1, the gaps in the current iteration of crafting and item mod pools are clear as day for me. I currently see 3 main issues in regards to the system as a whole and would love to see some change
1. My gear tends to have an identity crisis. I know I should not try to get a Spell/Attack hybrid to work, when there isn't even a class that properly supports it, but I've tried regardless and it has failed miserably thus far. My gloves, rings and amulet provide power to the Attack side of my build, but have dead stats for my spells like "add 12-20 physical damage to attacks", "15% attack speed" or "+3 to melee skills". Especially on Gloves it's pretty apparent that you could invest into attack modifiers, but that doesn't carry over to the other side of the build at all. 2. The mod pool on most items is quite narrow and filled with very niche stats you'd not want most of the time (or light radius, which is a dead stat all the time imo). In combination with the increase in randomness in crafting options (Essences apply only once and most of em just guarantee a mod from a pool instead of one specific one) we have to pray to RNG-sus most of the time while crafting, even with essences. Yes there is recombination and fracturing orb or omen of whittling for high end crafting, but it's pretty apparent that most people can't reach/grind enough to get to that state of crafting. 3. The mod pool range is frustratingly wide. Especially on an iLvL 80+ item I don't really see any benefit in rolling T8 flat life. Unless I literally swim in money and can afford omens of whittling to get rid of the T8 mod in favor of something higher tier, I have to either rely on RNG-sus, pray for recomb or sell/disenchant that promising base. I get that variance plays a big roll in Diablolikes like PoE2, but especially in a system that already is filled to the brim with randomness a huge roll range for valuable mods isn't fun.
